About the event

Eric Brace and Thomm Jutz are two extraordinarily talented singer-songwriters from Nashville who have combined forces to form a formidable duo. Both are Grammy nominees (in bluegrass and in children’s music), and their latest album, Simple Motion, was the #1 album on the Folk DJs radio chart for six weeks in 2024. Eric is well known to D.C. audiences as the lead singer and main songwriter of the powerhouse area band Last Train Home, and as a former writer for The Washington Post who covered the area’s nightlife for years. Thomm moved to Nashville from Germany almost 25 years ago and has become one of the city’s go-to songwriters for bluegrass, folk, and TV/film score music. His collaboration with Eric began when Eric and his duo partner Peter Cooper recorded two albums at Thomm’s recording studio. Their camaraderie led to them becoming a trio, one that released two albums on Eric’s Red Beet Records label. Following Peter’s tragic death in December, 2022, Thomm and Eric knew they would keep going as a duo, keeping Peter’s memory alive, and creating new music
Their fluid acoustic guitar interplay and warm vocal harmonies will continue to be heard, all in service to the songs. Songs from the heart, songs about insomniacs, mill workers, train whistles, astronauts, lovers, sailors and soldiers, songs about everyday struggles, heartbreak, and triumph.
In a time of division, Eric and Thomm seek — and find — connection.

“Lovely melodies, splendid playing, insightful lyrics, great production, and wonderful harmonies. It is all there on this wonderful album.”

– Frank Arnold, Americana UK
